Hi folks! Thanks for being here today—and welcome back if you’ve visited before. I’m so glad you’re here because this smoothie is too good not to share.
Let’s talk about one of my favorite ways to start the day: a frosty, purple, creamy, cinnamon-spiced smoothie that tastes like a treat but works like a health boost. The first time I made it, I drank it five days in a row. Yep—that good.
I found this recipe in a smoothie challenge by Dr. Jessica Knurick, PhD, RDN, and had to share it. It’s quick, creamy, and gives me a boost without weighing me down. I’ve been blending my way through the challenge and will definitely share the ones that really stand out.
Lately, I’ve been sipping it after long, early-morning walks with James T. It’s also super refreshing after hot yoga—or a gym workout, if that’s more your thing. Whether you need a smart way to start your morning or just something to revive you after moving your body, this one does the trick.
Why This Blueberry Smoothie Hits the Spot
- Creamy and cold with a soft, sweet banana base
- Bright blueberry flavor with just the right hint of cinnamon
- No added sugar—it’s naturally sweet from fruit
- Packed with good stuff like fiber, antioxidants, and plant protein
- Cleaner than store-bought – No sneaky sugars or additives, just real ingredients you can blend at home.
- Takes 5 minutes (or less!) to make
Easy Ingredients for a Delicious Blueberry Smoothie
- Unsweetened almond milk
- Frozen banana
- Frozen blueberries
- Hemp hearts
- A soft, pitted chewy date
- Ground cinnamon
- A couple ice cubes
That’s it! Toss it all in your blender and zip it until smooth. If you like it thicker, use more frozen fruit or ice. Want it sippier? Just add a splash more milk.

Why This Smoothie’s Actually Good for You
Here’s the cool part:
- Blueberries are high in fiber and antioxidants.
- Bananas give you potassium and help muscles recover.
- Hemp hearts add plant-based protein and Omega-3s.
- Cinnamon is anti-inflammatory and may help keep blood sugar stable.
- Dates offer natural sweetness and fiber.
Tools That Make Smoothie Prep a Breeze
- A strong blender (like a Vitamix, Ninja, or Nutribullet)
- A silicone spatula to scoop every last drop
- Freezer bags or containers if you’re freezing bananas or berries ahead

Smart Swaps & Smoothie Tips
- Use any milk you like! Any unsweetened non-dairy or creamy yogurt works well for creaminess and added protein. Each choice may alter the flavor a bit.
- No frozen banana? Use fresh and add more ice.
- Freeze blueberries in 1-cup portions to save money and time.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for 24 hours. Shake or blend before drinking.
- Freeze smoothie in ice cube trays for quick blend-and-go mornings.

Thanks! Enjoy!
This sounds delicious, but I can’t eat bananas. Maybe I’ll substitute almond yogurt and see how that works. Thanks, Robin! 🙂
