Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 2-inch piece cinnamon stick
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 rooibos tea bags
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ice, for serving
  • 1 orange, sliced, for serving

Method

  1. Combine the sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and water in a small pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and let the mixture steep as it cools to room temperature.
  2. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the solids. Stir in the orange juice until well combined. Fill four glasses with ice and orange slices, then pour the drink evenly into each glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

Since I already had a large stash of loose-leaf rooibos, I skipped ordering tea bags and used the empty fillable bags I keep on hand. They’re great for cooking, gardening, and more! If you don’t have them, you can simply order rooibos in tea bags using the link above.
